Burnt Tongue?

Okay, so about a week ago I made some delicious hot chocolate, that I was so excited to taste I had a mouthful when it was still searingly hot. As a result I burnt my tongue. However, a week has passed and my tongue is still excruciatingly painful. Eating is a nightmare and it even hurts if water touches it!

So what's the best way to soothe a sore tongue, and why the hell hasn't it healed yet? It doesn't usually take this long!

you must of burnt it pretty badly to be still hurting after a week.

I would use a good mouthwash to kill bacteria and swill salt water around in there if it started to sting.

I would also take a good zinc supplement. In my experience any cuts/sores that have randomly appeared in my mouth have healed in two days after taking: http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/product.asp?xs=4D0B575C2D754F85A60A484108B6F242&PID=220&np=1&cpid=637

It's probably a good idea to avoid anything too acidic or hot. Try eating food/drink lukewarm or cold.
