Season tickets?

Hi,
Does anyone know anything about season tickets for railway journeys? THe only thing i seem to be able to find out about them is that you can get them for periods of 7 days to a year and are generally cheaper than buying individual tickets (this was from the national rail site). I can't find out how much one would be, does anyone know?
Any info much appriciated

Yeah you can get weekly monthly or yearly. Weekly tickets can be bought from ticket machines(the new ones anyway) And don't require a photo AFAIK, monthly tickets require a passport ID photo for the pass as do yearly ones. There is about a 45% saving though on a monthly pass, so it's worth it. My train journeys would costs about 230 quid, with the pass it's about 128. There are of course student concessions, young persons rail cards and all that as well that you could ask about at your ticket office.

So you pay a certain amount for the ticket and then buy tickets for your journey with a discount? Or do you pay for the season ticket and then not need to pay for tickets again? I'm a bit confused...
How much do you pay for the pass then? Does it depend on the journey you will be doing and how often etc?
Thanks!

Well with certain discount cards(young persons railcard for example) On off peak journeys you get reduced fairs.

But a monthly pass say from Cardiff to Bristol which you can only get them from the ticket office, costs a fixed amount which you pay when you purchase the pass(be sure to bring a couple of passport photos with you for the ID card) They put the photo on the id card, then they print out a single ticket which acts as a monthly pass, you then renew it monthly, if you renew it within a couple of months each time you get a 5% discount. Same with yearly, although there massively expensive usually.

As said the weekly pass doesn't need a photo I'm pretty sure, and you can buy a ticket from a-z in any ticket office or machine. You can't buy a pass from zone a/b/c, although London tickets can allow extras like free subway travel and bus travel in the London area.
