I've seen some people say that they've heard bad things about it. What is it really like? Is it really full of chavs? and are there really no windows in the kitchens?

Haha! First, you don't need to worry about charvs, I don't think I've seen one any where near CL, on the other hand, there are loads and loads of Rahs. Second, yes its true, some kitchens dont have windows which is bludie annoying, but it gets ppl to learn how to cook without burning things very quickly . CL really isn't that bad I dont think, it all depends what kinda person you are I guess. CL is very social (especially first few weeks) as there are up to a thousand ppl in ur year eating together, going to the clubs together, and walking back from the clubs together so it really is social. I guess the food isnt great, but what do you expect from caterers who hafta serve that many ppl, I was actually quite pleasently surprised when I first got here. CL has a pub with two big screens, pool tables, fuzball and darts, 3 big dining halls, a laundrette, snooker rooms, table tennis rooms, a small general store where they sell basics, and decent internet connection. I'm not really sure what there isn't to like .

Castle Leazes, full of chavs, thats on the quote wall on my Facebook.

Castle Leazes has a reputation for being full of posh people. I was at their ball last Thursday and to speak frankly, there were a lot of people with expensive suits and smoking cigars (and to the two blokes who wanted me to pay them for taking photos of their suits (posh ones), I dont pay GNER or Virgin Trains for taking photos of their trademarks, so suits is out of the question).
Noxid

Thanks for the heads up on the posh people, unfortunatly, I've become used to RAH's at sixth form, which I was hoping to escape, but I think I can handle them for another year.

Not all posh people are that bad:p: In fact, some are very nice

Some are very nice. At the end of the day, there will probably be a girl I can borrow straighteners from

I visited there this morning and the staff were very friendly and helpful - the receptionist showed me all the important parts of the accomodation too.
My first impression was that it is a quite typically 1960s-1970s building, paints peeling off in general, but overall theres a nice atmosphere, plenty of facilities, lots going on and the computer clusters seem very useful. It is also situated in close proximities to the park which is really nice, and it's a short walk to the Uni [especially if you're a medic]. There are also quite a few cows in the fields nearby which sort of gave it a mild agricultural feel outside [I quite liked this coming from Guernsey].
As far as the ''posh people'' are concerned, I did see a few Leaver's hoodies, a lot of backcombed hair and upturned shirt collars, but I can't really see why that would deter people from going there. Never judge a book by its cover eh?
Sorry this is a long post!
well i cant say im a student there but i went on their summer school and i stayed in castle leazes....
my room overlooked a field of delightfully bored looking cows...which at first was odd but a whole lot better than overlooking the courtyard ~ where there were people up to about 3am playing their guitars and singing stuff...all through to morning!! but as :ditto: said before, its not THAT bad -- there are stuff that are pretty good, like the bars there and the plasma screen tv and such
as far as accomodation went: there was a bed, a little chest of drawers, wardrobe, walk in sink area, desk, lamp, and stuff ~~ quite decent for student university accomodation - didnt really get to see the kitchen, but the bathrooms are standard...there was about 2/3 showers on the landing and 1 bathtub -- enjoy
Castle Leazes really isnt bad at all to be honest. I never went to bording school or anything, but I was expecting a lot worse when I cam here. The only real problem I have is that some rooms are bigger than others (yet you pay the same price) and the bloodie fire alarms that tend to go off tandomly, other than that, I have no complaints what so ever.

Oh God, am I going to be the only one with skinnies and winklepickers? ha. Great
