Using the sun for energy
What Step up and step down transformers do for the national grid
Fuel used in a Nuclear power station
What process releases the energy
Whether or not it produces green house gases
If anyone can help, please post
These should be in your textbook but here are a few suggestions.
Readily available, reliable
Produce CO2 (global warming), Sulphur dioxide (acid rain), finite source (will run out).
Much more energy produced than fossil fuels, no polluting gases
Radioactive waste which must be stored for many years.
Renewable, used to meet a shortfall in energy
Doesn't generate much electricity
Unsightly, noisy, high set up and
Step up transformers increase voltage across the cable which reduces current through cable which reduces power/heat loss from the cable and increases efficiency of national grid. Step down transformers decrease voltage to make it safe for our homes e.t.c
Fuels used in nuclear power uranium 235 and plutonium 239. Energy released by nuclear fission. No greenhouse gases.
Hope this helps
