I am a foreigner and live about 1.5 hours away by train, I have been once before but dont remember much as it was for a birthday

Is it worth going for a day trip? When is the best time of year, I have heard it is one of the nicest UK cities

It has a charm to it because of the historical buildings, small shops and cathedral.

It's smaller than you'd think, given its reputation and considerable history.

It's also nice to shop in. Not sure about the best time, maybe later spring or late summer/autumn, mid Summer is usually hot and busy.

As for a day trip, it depends on what you'd like to see...but even generally there is a nice variety of things.
