One of my friends found out that she was dyspraxic during our last year at college.

She's intelligent, but mainly artistic. She really struggles with things like computers, and driving.
She was doing English A Level, and although she did really well in coursework and so on, she was always running out of time in exams.

She did some diagnostic tests at college (if you're at school or college there should be some kind of learning support department/group of staff who would help you with this), they confirmed that she was dyspraxic, and she got extra time in her A levels, so improved her grades loads from AS.

To be honest I don't know all that much about it, but I hope this helps you...

I'm dyspraxic myself, so PM me if you want any extra information.

Mine was diagnosed when I was very young and due to occupational therapy and stuff only has a minimal effect on my life but I still get extra time in exams etc.

Dyspraxia can be a symptom of dyslexia, I am dyslexic, and as a child I was possibly the clumsiest kid on Earth, I was known by name by all the nurses at A&E. But if you have any worries just get yourself diagnosed, I'm afraid I have no idea how to do this as I was never diagnosed or treated, I just sort of got over the worst stuff myself. My entire familly almost without exception are dyslexic though, so it's pretty obvious to me I am as I have the same symptoms as those who we're diagnosed.

Dyspraxia can't be a symptom of dyslexia, the two conditions have overlapping symptoms and if you have one you have a higher chance than the general population of getting the other but dyspraxia is not a symptom of dyslexia, sorry if that sounds a bit harsh but i get fed up of people assuming the only specific learning difficulty is dyslexia

To the OP I have dyspraxia but i'm not a very typical person because I like science and maths which is unusual, if you want to talk at all just PM me

Don't we all

OP - I have Dyspraxia and although I don't know a lot about it effects other people I do know how it effects me - which is my handwriting, it is very slow and messy and when writing my hand will start to hurt fairly quickly.

Because of this during my GCSEs I got extra time and the use of a laptop in exams. At college I am doing an ICT course so always have access to a computer if I need to take notes / to do my work. Exams are a non issue as it is a purely coursework assesed course.

You might find www.dyspraxiafoundation.org.uk useful as well

Sounds fine to me, I think I miss-stated myself what I should of said is the two are very different conditions, but one can be mistaken for the other. Is that better
