Orange juice can be kind of acidic, and fruit juice in general is pretty full of sugars. It's not the worst thing you could be drinking, but like most foods moderation is best.

Well I would imagine the the acid in orange juice wouldn't be so good in excess. I know dentists advise you to limit the amount of fruit juice you drink in addition to fizzy drinks, so it probably has some effect on your teeth.

What is a 'stupid amount'? I usually drink 3 250ml servings of orange juice/tropical juice and haven't noticed anything negative..

I'm wondering if there'd be any negetive effects from drinking stupid amounts of pure fruit juice?

Grape, cranberry and orange in particular.

Certain parts of your body will taste nicer to men. Not really a negative but w/e

Maybe some possible laxative effects, especially if it's citrus fruit juice ...

Also the teeth thing, you could try drinking it through a straw, which is apparently supposed to minimise the time that the juice is in contact with your teeth.

You might put weight on too (all that sugar) but at least you won't get scurvy!

Loads and loads of sugar. It's really acidic as well which is why you're meant to dilute it or it can be a bit toxic - not as in poisonous, but in the sense of things that need detoxing, but also not that severe unless you really do drink a lot......well, I know what I mean :p:

You shouldn't drink fruit juice more than once a day, it's really bad for your teeth.

Reply 10

Bad for your teeth and sometimes a laxative effect

Reply 11

It's my no means the worst thing you could be drinking, and at least you know you're getting enough vitamin C! Acid erosion of the teeth can be a problem though, so you could maybe try drinking through a straw. The most important thing, though, is to not brush your teeth for an hour after drinking juice, because if you brush them when you've recently had juice, you'll be brushing the acid right into your teeth, and that's not good!

You'll probably get fat in the end if you're drinking it as if it's water on top of your usual intake of food. There are a LOT of calories in fruit juice. It's not a good idea to drink a lot because it'll start eating your teeth away too.

Didn't read the rest of this thread so apologies if I've repeated things.

I drink about half a litre a day.. and thats enough. As has been mentioned, tis full of sugars.

Reply 18

Wouldn't this mean you're drinking a huge amount of sugar? And how the hell do you drink that much? I don't think I even drink 2 liters a day...

Reply 19

If you drink pure fruit juice, there shouldn't be too much sugar (there is some but only that present in the fruit). I don't think there's a real limit on drinking fruit juice. It's more a matter of personal preference. I tend to drink a bottle each day (the same size as a small bottle of Coke, however much that is) but some days I drink more.
