    Hello!
I would be intrested in doing a psychology course with a placement year but I am not sure I know what it means regarding the applying process. As the entry requirements for both courses are the same I don't understand how is someone chosen to do the placement year? Do both courses accept the same number of student? Wouldn't it lower my chances of getting into the uni if I applied for the placement? I don't get how it works..could someone explain it to me please?
    Thanks in advance!

It will vary from uni to uni - which are you looking at?

I'm not familiar with specific universities or the general layout of the placement years as I never did one. However, the experience you gain on them is (generaly) invaluable and I would recommend getting a placement year if you can.

I can't imagine that applying for the placement year would lower your chances of getting into the uni.

As above - it depends on the uni. I did a placement in psych at Cardiff and for their courses you apply to either the 3 or 4 year course, same application process, and same odds of getting in. You're not allowed to apply for both (and it would be a watse of a choice if you did). Once you've started the course you can always switch between the two if you decide you do or don't want to do the placement after all...they dont mind how many people do the placement, just the total number doing the degree overall
