Adderall.

anyone here ever taken adderall before? if so, how did it affect your studies? This question goes out to everyone, regardless of whether or not you have ADHD...
It's a stupid drug to abuse.

It doesn't have all that much of an effect, at least in my experience, but if you take it a lot, you'll find that it's a very addictive drug. People get dependent on it quickly, and it's very hard to concentrate on anything unless they continue to take more and up their dosage.

Really not worth it imo. Do you really want to spend a year or two not able to concentrate on a damned thing, trying to become independent of a drug you didn't even need to take, just so you could make studying a bit easier during exam time?

They dont sell adderall in the UK, so there isnt much point you discussing it!

And whether "you have ADHD or not" makes no sense.. what do you want to use it for?

it's prescribed for ADHD, that's why. Similar to ritalin and other amphetamines.
I was reading up on this a few days ago. I don't think I'd try it out tbh because of the addiction risk. And I'm sure it's not all too good for your health either, what with being an appetite suppressant!

its a perscription drug... it is not sold, period. However in America people may have to buy it (becuase of their stupid health insurance system) im not sure.

But it is available in the UK when perscribed, and people who get it and don't want to take it; sell it. I've also heard that common 'drug dealers' provide it to students wishing to study constantly before exams.

i work in a pharmacy part time here. They do not sell (as in the drug company does not market it) in the UK. Thus you cannot be prescribed it!

the only drugs for ADHD are methylphenidate (ritalin) and dexamfetamine (dexedrine).

Adderall is just a mixture of dexamfetamine/levoamfetamine salts. Studies have found it no more effective in treating ADHD, as such it was never licenced for sale here. [and by sale i mean on a prescription:rolleyes: ]

Stimulants ARE NOT(!!!) used for weight loss any more.

adders.org -- "The drug itself has still yet to be fully registered in the United Kingdom but it is now perfectly legal for it to be prescribed by Consultants, GP's and to be obtained by pharmacists on a patient by patient basis"
basically once the perscription is passed, it is sent special next day delivery rom the US...

besides, I have actually seen it before, the the official packaging and everything.

yes though its incredibly rare for it to happen. When we have orders in for specials, things can be inflated way above the actual price. The NHS has to fork out so much for specials!!
i think 'adderal' is what i got offered at my campus a few weeks ago.. the bloke called em pep and focus pills, for workin all night after partying. somthing like £2 a pill! must be good! hahahaa. anyone else been offered this? i might be wrong, may have been sommthin else.

How are we supposed to know? I imagine he would have just called them adderal if they were adderal.
For all we know, he could have just taken the label off a bottle of asprin and decided to sell them to the gullible for £2

probably street meth/dex/amphet. Adderall are near inexistant here.

Yeah, it helped my studies, but made me have temper outburst...one time i beat the bullocks out of a dude outside the school....It can make you wig-out sometimes.. Now I am back on Ritalin...works alot better...l82:p:
..Now i love codeine...i get it from New Zealand...Can't tell ya where...i am high all the freakin' time at school..what school..i am high as a pillock. cheers
people abuse it by taking it even when they don't have ADHD. it increases their concentration/focus and gives them an edge.

Ritalin (particularly Concerta) seems to be more popular from my experience of study life (n.b. I'm not naming any institutions here).

Also this thread is 3 years old.
good point. I only read the bottom, even though I checked dates.
