Thank you!
My specialism was interviewed the first week and theres only 15 places so I'm hoping that it will be one of the first to be released. I just want news haha, whether it's good or bad; just so I can get on with my week!

Good lucky everyone!

Mine was in the second week and there's about 60 places so I'm not expecting to hear today :frown:
Does anyone know why there are so many more places for medical physics than ever other specialism, I understand the importance obviously, but I would have though the other specialisms were just as important. Is there a big drive for that in the NHS at the moment? I would have thought with the 100000 genome project there would be a huge drive for geneticists, but there is less than half the number of med phys!

I just assumed it was because it was the only really physic based one, plus there are 4 schemes within it, so it's not quite as big

Med Phys has a number of routes within the specialism. I guess that might be why

Ah ok, I did not know that!

I was definitely anticipating an increase in the number of clinical bioinformaticiains in genomics for this reason. I imagine it is because it is still not quite the "boom" of the genomics era yet - much more is yet to be integrated into the health system. Also a lot of the 100,000 genomes project is carried out by the Sanger institute in Cambridge I found out from a current STP, the genetics and genomics stps do relatively little work on it, if any at all.
I've had an offer come through  Got my first choice! I am in shock. But looks like they are running on schedule!

Congrats, which specialism?
Haem and Transfusion science- We were one of the first interviews and only 8 spots, so may take a little longer for the bigger specialisms?

I take that is just a case of just searching the NHS jobs website?

Yes. Even if it looks like you would not fit the person specification, it might be worth applying anyway (definitely call the listed contact for a chat). That is how we have filled our posts. Given the lack of suitable candidates, we grow our own!
I got the London position- Its Guys and St Thomas's and Kings, Via Path though, which I was a bit worried about :/
Thankyou for all the congratulations and well dones  I hope you all hear soon and get the place you want too!
