Nooo, I mean sub-Saharan Africa. You only learn about Ancient Egypt.

There weren't many empires other than the Ethiopian Empire.

Lots of Kingdoms though.

But they enslaved Nubians who were black!

Almost every great civilisation has been built off the backs of slaves.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Hispanic_Heritage_Month - the list of holidays and observances at the bottom of the page is quite interesting, though it's specific to the US!

A wide range of all sorts of groups and awareness months for a variety of diseases :teeth:

Enslaved for hundreds of years and yet people still complain when they get a month to celebrate some of their most important figures in history.

One ****ed up world.
I'm quite sure a lot of ethnicities have suffered racism and slavery throughout history. Such as the Jews, the entire Mediterranean and Europe during Roman times, and the Chinese by the Mongols during the Yuan dynasty.

I guess there should be a month for perhaps every ethnicity in the world?

what about white history month? or hindu history month? or jewish history month? or heres an idea, why not scrap these stupid months and get on with life
I see no value in Black history month. Black people are extremely diverse, there are thousands different and distinctive cultures black people are from. To sweep every black person and their respective culture under the umbrella of Black history month is absurd, ignorant and quite disrespectful.

There's no white history month, no brown history month, No East Asian history month so why should there be a black history month?

The month of October should be called African American appreciation month, I'd see the importance for it then but even then blacks weren't the only discriminated minority in America and they still aren't currently

In talking about black people's contribution to society?

Keeping on track, I'm not one to actively celebrate black history month, but I guess I value my culture in terms of music. Been listening to a lot of jazz recently :h:
