You can expect that the OM&M questions will primarily revolve around the common themes of the novella: Fraternity, Companionship and The American Dream. When I did my exam for it, the questions were something along the lines of "where is the theme of companionship represented" or "how does the author represent ____ in the novella?" Expect that the questions will be very open so you can address a lot of things and not be so confined. If you're looking to respond in depth and have a very good answer, you'll want to relate those themes to the characters. For example, George & Lennie have companionship, which some men on the range just don't have and the loneliness sends them crazy and angry. Since it's a novella, the author uses A LOT of symbolism along with the cyclical theme of the book. Remember the concept that "everything that goes around comes around". The book starts and ends at the same place: The river. Lennie kills and kills, repeatedly, without fail. The cyclic theme implies he will continue to do it. I believe the theme is also represented by sunrise and sunset at the start and end. Be sure to address that idea in your exam, as well as the themes of companionship amongst the ranch hands, and lastly: Address the American Dream. They all wish to be self sufficient, and the dream almost becomes a reality. However, this is taken away from them, much like how Curley's wife's dream was stolen from her. Every single person has that dream, and it always gets taken away, and they're all destined to fall short of those dreams.

Hope this helps you out. Be sure to work on your structure for your responses to the questions, develop your points well and link them all in neatly. Work on the structure and planning before you respond so that you've got it down, and then conclude it well, drawing all your points into one big finishing statement.
