There is a big difference between Type II diet-controlled diabetes, Type II tablet/insulin dependent diabetes and Type I diabetes (insulin/diet controlled).

The rules for benefits (particularly for older people) are different from the laws regarding the definition of disability.

Well there you go then question answered ....
Yeah, i think mine may be classed as a disability because it is not well controlled and has led to other health issues.

sounds about right. i know that i had to get written proof of needing exemption to the no eating rules. Though im not diabetic if my blood sugar drops i am very sensitive to seizures and have been tested for diabetes and come out "border-line". My sugar levels also go crazy if i get a UTI or a kidney infection (need more water than a fish and could eat my own wait in anything sweet) so i would definitely agree that it could quite dramatically effect your education i know when stuff like happens to me cant think at all let alone pay attention in lecture/class
