AFAIK the MiF at London Business School is the best you can get.. and the most expensive.. probably the hardest to get into as well, you need at least 3 years of work experience and from what I've gathered from their website they don't seem to make exceptions from that rule..

But LSE is great too.

MiF but have you even seen the admission criteria. Look at other threads - there are plenty on the topic.

Lets be more specific.....I have an Engineering from IIT (Hope u've heard abt the brand)..MBA from IIM.. 2 years IB experience in India....Would i be able to get associate roles after LSE MSc Eco and Fin ?
Reply 4
You'll be likely to get into associate roles anyway, however, MiF will do a better job. Fin & Econ is good, but it's not really as practical as MiF - you do not really need it.
Reply 5
I dont need MiF or Msc ? And by the way, could you plz tell me kind of image IIT and IIM brands hold in UK job market.. (Iam more concerned abt IIM, IIT I know is well known)
Reply 6
Technically you do not need it - it will not get you anything except a new brand name. I am not so sure about the reputation of IIM - wait for a bit... someone shall know.
Reply 7
But you r sure abt IIT reputation ? Actually I think without a UK degree, its tuff to land a UK job while sitting in India

It's got good reputation for sure in terms of technology. Wait around for more information. But the Bachelor of Technology in IIT is considered among the top 10 most prestigious degrees in the world.

What roles are you looking to go into? To be honest, you will probably stand a decent chance of getting into the UK banking scene with your current academics and experience.
OP - you've got more than enough to land yourself a job at a bank in London, frankly if you can't get in with your background then I doubt that a MiF from LBS or LSE is going to make any difference and that it is not pursuing a further qualification that should be your worry. I think you have enough to go into associate role or at the very least senior analyst at a bank in London.

Actually, Iam totally fed up with this I-B profile (deals, IPOs and stuff).....Its damn process oriented, boring and needs hell of your time..Want to shift towards trading, derivatives side and all.....So need strong acad background for that.....My only worry is would my MBA hold value in UK or it will be written off by the Banks ??
Reply 12
You dont need an MBA for trading.
Reply 13
But is it possible to move up the hierarchy without an MBA ?

YES. Please, don't be so insecure about your qualifications and experience. Both IIT and IIM carry outstanding reputations, and going hand-in-hand with your existing experience, an associate position shouldn't be a problem with decent social and interview skills. Your bonuses and promotions will be determined by your performance, not how many MBAs you've done in a lifetime.

IIT is nearly as good as MIT.
But IIM ?
What is that ?
Would not be able to tell you unless I googled.

Of course, unlike Knogle, I am not a management type.
Reply 16
IIT in some circles is regarded as superior to MIT, for the record.

And IIM is also the best of its kind as far as postgraduate management-related courses are concerned.
Reply 17
So, Knogle knows about IIM...Thats a morale booster:smile:

People who do know a thing or two about universities abroad, and not just in UK, should have heard of IIT and IIM. Give the job you want a shot, you should stand a good chance.
are all IITs the same in prestige + ranking? i knew about IIT but after checking out the international applicants section of this forum i found out that there are like tens of IITs in India..are they all awesome?
