[Pre-apology for the slightly long post.]

I am a former student going out into the big wide world. But, I feel like the whole world is moving on without me. All I do now is work at a place I'm lucky to still be at and spend the rest of my time at home with how I can find some friends on the mind.

Even in college, I found it hard to find just a few friends, some of which didn't always appreciate just my company and made fun of my human faults. I was too nervous to go and try to make friends. Never knew what to say or ask. :s But now that our course ended and we all split into different directions, I don't really have anyone.

I feel like I'm surrounded by people who just go out most nights to get increasingly drunk and such. I wouldn't call that a "good time" myself but hey, we're all different. I had a look for activities or events going on in my area but it is all "Politics chat" this and "Rigorous Exercise in You Own Body Sweat" that. ._.

I could just use some advice if any of you have been in a similar situation or something. Thank you

Have you tried something like meetup.com? I've never used it myself but I've heard it can be good for meeting people near you who are in to the same things What do you like doing?

Lots of people socialise at pubs so even if you don't want to get really drunk, just going for a drink/soft drink and chatting to people is a good way to build friendships Then once you know people a little better you can invite them to go to the things that you're interested in
