I received a place at the University of Leeds, but I live close to the Liverpool area and a family member of mine is seriously ill so I want to stay local, but I am really loathed to give up Leeds for Liverpool given the differing calibre of the two unis.

Am I making a huge mistake?

Liverpool isn't half as good for my subject as Leeds. I guess the question I am asking is, I realise they're not similar in terms of academic calibre, but future and employment-wise, will Liverpool severely limit my opportunities as compared with Leeds?

(The subjects I'm studying are marketing and politics)

I didn't know there was such a massive difference in calibre between Leeds and Liverpool. I assumed as unis they rank very similarly...as a student at Leeds and someone who has visited other northern red bricks like Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool, Sheffield, York etc... I can vouch that they're very similar in terms of quality. That might sounds like a big generalisation, but that's the gist I've got from having spent years visiting friends around those kinds of universities.

I don't know if you're still trying to decide but the difference between the two is negligible. They're both good unis.
Are you going to a festival?
