AQA AS Drama & Theatre Studies Unit 2 - ARTAUD ADVICE? watch

    • Thread Starter

((Heh... so paragraphs aren't working.... ehhhh...)) Hello! We are doing Unit 2 first in our Drama class and will soon be rehearsing and choreographing our 25 minute piece. As a five member group ( 4 acting; 1 lighting) we have decided the practitioner who has influenced us is Artaud and will be performing the tea party scene in "Alice VS Wonderland". I was just wondering, although this is way prior to when we actually have to do the piece, does anyone have any particular ways or aspects to include in the piece to make it look as disturbing yet understandable (when relating to Artaud's themes) ? I'd like to say (without sounding arrogant or boastful! ) that I believe all members of the group are capable to use the physical and vocal elements in the style of Artaud to a decent standard, but are there any extra things we could perhaps do to make it look, well, good? We were fortunate enough to have two actors who had been studying the practitioner for 20 years do an interactive workshop for us (looked at '4.48 Psychosis , prison bars and broken sound, isolation) so I guess we know a little bit! Has anyone done this exam before? Has anyone studied Artaud before and knows what would be successful?Speaking to an A Level student who studied Artaud last year in her performance, she managed to receive an A for the practical, and she said she included:* A coat hanger abortion scene* Quote, 'being ****ed over a chair with a salt shaker by another girl' :I * Force feeding with a hose and funnel* Sorry for the rambly post, but I feel like our script could give us a lot of opportunity, and I would like to know if anybody has some ideas to make it look as strange and as bitter as possible. Thanks !
