    This weeks useful events for our current students from our Careers and Employability Centre. Book online via Careers Online.

    Direct Your Career is a series of presentations and workshops to help you develop your employability. Available at all stages of your course, you can attend as many sessions as you like, to help direct your career planning and navigate your way toward the right opportunities for you.


    Monday 19th October, 6pm

    CAREERS IN TEACHING... WRITING YOUR PERSONAL STATEMENT
    Gain an insight into the key requirements for drafting a good personal statement


    Wednesday 21st October, 12pm

    APPLICATION FORMS
    A presentation to explain the key parts of an application form, how to demonstrate your skills and abilities effectively and how to ensure your application makes it to the next stage of the recruitment process


    Wednesday 21st October, 1pm

    INTERVIEWS AND ASSESSMENT CENTRES
    This session looks at the types of interview you may encounter, the questions you may be asked, and the typical activities you'll come across at an assessment centre. You'll hear first hand what to expect and how to prepare effectively.


    Thursday 22nd October, 11am

    CV AND COVERING LETTERS
    Find out how to structure and present your skills and achievements to create a powerful CV and covering letter that will impress employers.


    Thursday 22nd October, 6pm

    MOCK ASSESSMENT CENTRES (specifically for SBE/SSPGS students only - spare spaces are released 2 days before the event)
    You'll hear first hand what to expect and learn how to prepare effectively. Come along and gain as much practise as you can before your first real assessment centre.

    - Practise some elements of an assessment centre with the Careers and Employability Centre and employer
    - Get tips on technical interviews
    - Have a go at the types of questions you may encounter
    - Experience a group activity
