Hi, asking for sister who has found a job and they are requiring her to start immediately like Within a week. She doesn't know her notice period and is feeling scared to ask her manager.

She works at either farmfoods or Iceland foods. I'm not quite sure. iF anyone who works at either of these stores or other retail stores , what's the usual notice period ? One or two weeks ?

    Thanks

It will be in her written employment contract.

New starters are often on a probationary period for 3 (or sometimes 6) months when the notice period is usually 1 week. After that it's usually a month.

But, as I said, it should be written on her contract or employment letter.

Not a good start... Get her to ring HR and ask for a replacement.

She should still have a contract though. It should say in there.
Couldn't she ask a colleague how much notice to give? Surely they would know.
