Anyone at Bristol done a year's study abroad in California/ other?

I will be accepting a firm offer of a place to study Computer Science at Bristol starting in October 2007, and I'm just wondering which course to choose, since I still have the option of things like years out/ 3 or 4 year course, etc

#pig#

I noticed on the Computer Science page that some students have previously spent their year abroad studying at the University of California, and was just wondering what the experience was like? Doesn't have to be Cali or CompSci, a general idea of that year's study abroad would be helpful for making my mind up.

Thanks guys :p:

I think one of the girls doing comp sci is going to California next year. I don't think that many people do the course with study abroad really.

I think I have spoken to you before - my friend is at UCLA right now, will be comming back next year. apparently its a very different way of teaching out there! if you have any specific questions just ask. See you next year! Hey I may be your mentor! lol crazy.

Wow, that sounds like an amazing course! It's a shame they don't do American law at Bristol! :frown:

i'm going to bristol in october 2007 for economics and philosophy, am seriously considering going on a study abroad program to california for my 2nd year... but i guess i have a little while more to decide...

having done a bit of research, cali, esp UCLA is VERY competitive, u have be really godo to even get the chance to go out there in the 3rd year... they recommend places like aus/ nz/ hong kong/ japan and the rest of the usa more because theyre far less competitive

USA is also v expensive. they make it compulsary to have £300 odd insurance per semester.. which is nearly an extra £1000 by the end of it...

but i read somewhere that the actual tuition fees are waived by bristol, its as if u are just paying for another year at bristol.. the only extra expenses are travel and living costs really...

so will have to reconsider...

thinking maybe sydney ... if at all..!

If you go to an EU country, you do very well financially out of it.

you needed this to prove that all stereotypes aren't neccessarily true?

I was dressed as a colon (admittedly that was the geekiest costume, but also the one with the least effort put into it:p: )
