    If one was to react the Grignard PhMgBr with SnCl4 one of the products, and the target product, would be tetraphenyltin.

    I can't tell if this is a transmetalation, or a salt elimination organometallic reaction? There's no redox effects on the Sn, and though while I suspect the biproduct is MgCl2, I performed no tests to clarify the nature of the impurities (other than that they formed this awful green sludge).

    Anyway, I'm erring towards transmetalation, for that reason. Thoughts?

    As i can see from the picture that you send the type of reaction is nucleophilic substitution reaction
