    Hello,

I am wondering if anyone can confirm what help/support I can get for a social work undergraduate degree if i already hold a different degree (in Law).

I am aware that you cannot get the bursary from the NHS for the first year but what support can i get for first year and subsequent years from student finance and NHS.

I am confused about loans/grants for tuition fees as well as living costs.

    Thanks

    Hi,

It might be worth asking this question over in the Student Finance section: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=545. Although I'm familiar with the NHS component of funding, they'll be able to advise you on your options in regards to student finance, which I'm not all that familiar on.

If you already have a first degree in Law, have you considered applying for the postgraduate course in social work? The NHS bursary covers the cost of these over the two year course, if nominated for the bursary by your university, so this sounds like it would meet your financial needs more? Something worth considering, especially as Law has an obvious relevancy to social work practice which you could use as part a postgraduate application.
