It is adviced to leave lines for paragraphs as it'll appear a lot clearer for the admissions to read. I don't think they're essential though and shouldn't jepodise a possible offer - many don't leave paragraphs
But I'd say yeah leave lines for paragraphs

I spoke to teachers about this and got mixed advice. Some suggested leaving empty lines because it makes it easier for admissions tutors to read, but others said that it isn't that much of an issue. I left lines between my paragraphs because it's my personal preference, but I don't think it matters too much as long as there's a clear distinction between the content of your paragraphs.

I think it depends on the layout when you've finished. I was lucky enough that, at the end of my paragraphs, my sentence finished halfway across the line so it looked good. I'm sure the unis would favour a few more lines of writing rather than loads of spaces
