I am from Sweden where it's common to attend university later but I want to attend a British university. I am thinking of applying so that I either start when I am 23, or working for a year to save and then going when 24 (preferable to me as I also want to travel?).

Would I "fit in" as a 23 year old at a Russell group university say?

Or if I were 24 instead of 23, I suppose that would not make much difference? (main question)

    Thank you

    ................
Wouldn't make any difference at all. Universities are very diverse and totally drop the age hierarchy of school life.

Did you go as a mature? what was it like

Yeah, I think the UK has really young uni students statistically though? For example Scottish students start at 17 and because you do not pay for fees immediately like in America most people go at 18 or 19

Yeah you'll fit right in. Just ask some of the locals where the gay bars are and you'll practically be at home.

I went back for post grad study as a mature student, in my late 30s. I played a Uni sport with undergrads and had lots of undergrad/ 18-14 year old friends and colleagues. No-one ever mentioned the age difference, and much as I'd like to think they couldn't tell ...
