Passed today, but have no idea how to get a car.

My budget is probably up to £2,5k and wouldn't want insurance to be more than £1.2k.

I want to get a car which is good value, i.e. not too old, not many miles so that when I come to sell it, it'll have a good bit of realisable value left in it.

What are the better brands and what should I look out for? In terms of mileage, how does one calculate how worth it something is worth getting?
