The IB is very popular in Australia. So yes is your answer.

yeah I don't know of any uni in Australia that does accept IB, I could name all the ones that I know for sure, but that would be easte of time. Although, there are prerequisites in most unis which you can find online at the best Unis but otherwis you might have to contact the unis directly.

Yeah they do, they really love it. A 36 is reasonably highly looked upon.

Yeah all Australian universities accept the IB, I'm an Australian IB student and I'm studying at Monash University. Pretty much for all the universities, you have to get atleast a 5 for your standard level subjects (the ones which are prerequisites of course) and a 4 at higher level.
Aussie unis LOVE IB. Trust me. The conversion of IB points to their state systems like the HSC and the VCE are also really good as well. For 30-34 points you can get into some really good unis very comfortably. They require you to have certain number of points for certain courses and this requirement varies with uni but they all range around 30-34. Some courses at some uni even ask for as low as 27-29.

What are you planning to do at uni and have you looked into any aussie uni yet?

im actually not sure of what i want to study yet.. but i still have 2 years to decide =P the only australian uni i know is the university of melbourne. is it good?

thanks everyone for ur help!! =D
Yeah Melbourne U is pretty good. It's got some of the highest IB requirements I've seen. Many unis I looked at ask for 34-36 for stuff like Med and Law but I think Melbourne asks for 38. I'm not particularly sure.

I'm at the University of New South Wales which is pretty good if you want to do a Commerce/Business type degree (I'm doing BCommerce).

Melbourne UNi may say on its website that it needs 38 for med and law but in reality it is more like for med it is more like 43 for med and 41 for Law. SO it is very high. Melb Uni is the second best australian uni (Australian National University is best best, but it is in Canberra which is devoid of culture). Melb was ranked 22nd in world in the THES Uni ranking(a well respected Uni ranking thing). And ANU was Ranked 16th in world so they are quite good unis.
Yeah, ANU is really good and I got an offer to go there as well. But Canberra...it looked a little dull and I didn't really fancy living there and I wanted to go to UNSW quite badly so it was to sydney I go. I didn't even apply Melbourne though I think I would had gotten offer if I did. I don't know, where was something about Melb Uni that didn't appeal to me. But that could just be me.

Bandev is right about Melb Uni. It does have high IB requirements compared to others, but its an awesome uni.

I forgot to say that you can do Arts at Melbourne with a 33 (I think), but that is the lowest score for any course worth doing, and then Arts isn't that great.
No you can do Maths for 30 or something like that. Apparently it's not a popular course. :p:

good thing i dont want to study medicine or law :p:
yeah but even if it is 40+ for Med and Law, thats pretty standard anywhere in the world really. Med and Law always have high requirements

Oh, just FYI, you will have to take IELTS if you are going to Australia for uni as an international students. It's a requirement for visa, unless you can prove you've done at least the last 5 years of schooling in english

does it count if ive studied in a bilingual school for the past 6 years?
not sure. may have to check on that with your local Aussie visa office (there's an official name for it that I cant remember)
Reply 18
you mean the australian embassy?
Yeah, but the part of the embassy/gov that deals with visa and immigration is called DIAC - stands for something that I can't remember. anyway, they should be located at the aussie embassy in your country anyhow.
