^ spesh down Burgess Road...can get quite rough down there, but can also be avoided, so not that bad at all...
As a lifelong Southampton resident - crime has certainly taken a sharp increase recently

Murders - they happen fairly often nowadays whereas 5 years ago you might be lucky to hear of 1 a year.

Rapes have also gone up - when walk around town be careful not to walk alone in the parks - also someone even got raped near the car parks at leisure which has a lot of people aroudn that area at night - so be careful!

Huge amounts of pubs and enough clubs to keep you occupied

Night life great, chavs bad. Overall, great
I disagree - its like a month cannot go past without a new murder or somesort of seirous crime - almost unheard of in the past.

Reading is a much smaller city (officially a town) and there are easilly one murder a week at least - 1 murder a month in a medium/large sized city is not a terrible record.
Maybe, but its bad when it is rising so rapidly.

Wish i hadn'y read this thread! lol! Oh well too late now! But i think crime is bad everywhere these days, even in my little home town Norwich - 6 of my close friends have had their drinks spiked there in popular pubs / clubs. 4 close friends have been beaten up in the city and 1 was threatened with a knife, another left concussed for several hours.... I think all places have their down sides and Norwich is a small city. So Southampton is bound to have its share too!!
