I will shortly be working in my first TEFL job. I am weighing up doing an English Literature MA or an MA in TESOL.

In the future I want to gain a teacher training qualification so that I can teach English and Drama.

If I apply for a teacher training course overseas they generally require that you have two subject areas that you can teach.
Can I still teach mainstream school English with a TESOL. I have an A level in English Literature and a B.A Hons in Acting which had English language and literature credits.

Schools can hire whoever they want, but if you are specialised in teaching English as an additional language, you should go for schools with that need rather than getting that qualification but going only for schools who don't need that skill.
