I will be going to Portsmouth in September of 2016 and I have a question about the catered option. I know that there is a choice between 1 or 2 meals per day but how does that work exactly? Is it a punch card or is it annotated when you go eat? I ask because I plan on traveling a bit while I'm there so if I'm not in town for 2 or 3 days would I lost those meals or can I use them at a later date?

I'm part catered so I don't know if I'll be any use to you, but I thought I'd comment since no one else has.
When I arrived at Langstone I was given a load of purple meal tickets for this term, and they have squares on them. 1 square equals 1 meal, and every time you get a meal at the cafeteria the staff rips off a square.
If you don't use all the meal tickets by the end of term you can't use them for next term, because they give out new meal tickets of a different colour.
So basically (for part catered at langstone village, anyway): you can use the meal tickets anytime, for the whole term. It's only the next term that they become invalid.
