Had my 2 top front teeth knocked out - looking for advice

I wasnt really sure where to post this, but anyway here goes:

I had my 2 top front teeth knocked out on friday night over a stupid argument. Im just wondering what my options are now - has anybody else here had a similar experience? Im struggling to talk and eat - In the last 2 days all ive eaten is a bowl of porridge and some weetabix, because i seem to use more energy trying to eat the food than i get from it. Ive been told i can get the gap bridged, but it will be months before my gums have healed enough to do this. Can i get temporary false teeth? How do they feel? I am having great difficulty saying words like 'from', becuase i have no teeth to push my tongue off. It ends up sounding like phtrom. Any advice would be most appreciated

my dentist told me about implants which sound good. i dont personally need them - well not yet anyway, but i've got a really dodgy tooth, it is at the back tho. it may just be a case of gettin used to it unfortunately tho!

You mean your lower-lip, surely?

ok. Its pretty urgent for me because the gap is massive - the whole profile of my face looks different in the mirror. I was just wondering about temporary solutions until dentures are an option

profesh - im not sure what you mean sorry. Try saying from without your tongue touching your top 2 middle teeth.

a friend of mine had a similar thing happen to him, and they were glued back into position with a metal rod to hold them together - unfortunately this little piece of wire is also unsightly, so you may have to wait.
Going to the dentist would be an obvious place to start.

I had similar thing before Christmas which still hasn't been fixed. Wasn't my 2 front teeth but a huge chip in one and then a tooth beside my front tooth was knocked out. Went to the dentist and he said it can be fixed (the one that was knocked out) possibly by a false one being screwed in.

As for talking weird. Normally, it will take a few days for your tongue to get used to it before you can talk normally. My speech was a bit off when my teeth were damaged but I talk fine now and my mouth felt totally weird as if my teeth weren't my own but again, it felt fine after a few days to a week.

i didnt even realise at the time that he had knocked my teeth out. It hasnt really hurt much at all, the emergency dentist yesterday just gave me some antibiotics to prevent gum infection. It must have been a very hard punch though - both teeth and all the root were knocked clean out. The dentist also took an xray of my gums yesterday which I will get back tomorrow afternoon, which is to check that there is no root left in my gums, which hopefully there isnt, or I will have to have an operation to remove it, prolonging the time it takes my gums to heal.
Dentures will cost a lot - thousands but probably the best thing total solution.

yeah I know that they are going to be expensive. My parents say that they are prepared for me to get dentures though.
the implants cost more than £1000 and you could get a partial denture until you get implants or you could keep the partial denture it will still be a little costly but not as costly as the implants, and it would look natural enough, but will also depend on your age etc and wether you are nhs or private, im a dental nurse.

sorry i posted that last post anonymous i didnt mean to . pm me if you want to discuss this further im sure i could be of some help.
Does being a student not mean you'll get them fixed for free?

depends are you exempt from payment are you 18 or younger, if your older than 18 regardless of wether your a student you will have to pay to get them fixed, obviously if u are nhs it will be cheaper than if youre private.

I'm with Profesh on this. My lower lip touches my teeth, not my tongue... O_o
Same here. Are you pressing charges?

:hugs:
I had my top left front tooth broken when I got punched in the face in a night club when I was 17.
It cracked all the way up to the root and the dentist couldn't save it - it had to be extracted.

They gave me a denture on a plate that can be removed - it looks pretty natural but it's really uncomfortable so I don't ever wear it these days. To be fair, it's probably less uncomfortable the more often you wear it, but I kept on forgetting to put it in, and now I just don't bother with it.

I'm just toothless woman lol - I'm kinda used to it now - been this way for 6 years.

I am waiting to get an implant but they can't do it whilst I'm pregnant because I can't have x-rays, but as soon as the baby is born I'm gonna get it done because I will be entitled to free dental treatment until the baby is 1 (I would have had it done when I had my daughter but it took ages before I managed to get registered with an nhs dentist - was with a private one before but had to leave because it was too expensive).

This is my brilliant smile lol:

I do sympathise with you losing two teeth - mine was painful enough losing one!
^ Can you get implants for free on the NHS? Mother or no mother - even private dental insurances (that i have seen) pretty much all exclude implants because they are a 'luxury' (and expensive)
