What could this illness be?

My b/f has been suffering from tiredness for a long time, and always has to nap for at least an hour after getting home from work every day. On it's own, it wouldn't be all that worrying, as lots of people are tired after a busy day, but he also has some other problems- these including being thirsty a lot, and having very dry eyes. He's been prescribed drops and ointments for his eyes before which help to a certain point but still, his eyes are often red and don't have enough moisture. He also has unusually dry and chapped hands, and complains of a 'dry' sensation in his mouth as well as the thirst.

Are these just little problems in their own right or could they combine together to be signalling something else? Any help or ideas would be much appreciated, thanks

Sounds like diabetes. Before I was diagnosed I used always go to bed after school and was always tired even then. Thirst is another sign, always being thirsty whether you have a drink or not. It can effect eyes I think but not sure. A test is easy enough to get; go to the doctors (or Lloyds pharmacy do free ones but you'd have to go to the docs afetr that anyway...)

While I would assume Diabetes as well, it is possible it's just basic dehydration. If you don't drink a lot you're skin and eyes go dry because you don't have enough moisture in your body to cope with everything. The tiredness could be stress.

Tell him to try and drink more, another symptom of Diabetes is weeing a lot, does he do that? Don't get him worried about having Diabetes when it could be something simple, but definitely make him go to his doctors.

True, it could be diabetes, but stress can also cause dry eyes and skin and dry sensations in the mouth as well as tiredness. Do tell him to get it checked out though, just to be sure.
