This is probably nothing but it just got me down..just could do with some advice.

So I am a graduate, been looking for a new job. So i applied to various places, and this recruitment place contacting me saying they have a job that Im suited for. So I call them up and talk to the guy and he asks me questions about my degree, previous experience and so on. He ask me to come in for an interview, I go the next day and when I arrive at the place and was waiting (10 mins) for the interviewer.

He asks some questions about me, some standard interviewing questions, then he starts being sarcastic and starts smiling, grinning when he ask about certain things on my CV like past past grades that are not good and just being unprofessional and is clearly indirectly taking the piss about me. I got a strong feeling it was linked to my background, mixed race.
By the end he says, your qualified for the position and will arrange to put in touch with the company and then I didn't hear anything from him/them and when I call, they make excuses like the guy is not here.

It's just got me really down, and it's putting me off going to these recruitment agencies..I'm trying to move on and I haven't told anyone, like parents. Any advice?

Sorry to hear that buddy but don't let one bad experience get you down, getting a job is like rollercoaster ride and you've just got to stay on. Good luck!

Which recruitment agency? They can be useful in getting you work as they all get payed in commission. They get paid to find you work so it's in their intestests to get something that would suit you.

With the small amount of experience I have of recruitment agencies, I think they can be really crap. Whilst they do work on commission, it seems that with so many people needing a job they can be really selective and mess around even very good candidates because they're disposable. I wouldn't let it get you down, it happens to a lot of people. It's difficult to apply to jobs directly now because there are so many recruitment agencies, but I think it is better to go directly to a company. But honestly, don't let it upset you and just avoid that agency in future.
