Someone from my school last year needed A*AA for HSPS and got in with either A*A*B (which isn't exactly under the requirements) or A*AB, can't remember which one

EDIT: Sorry - didn't realise this was in the maths forum, can't say I know of anyone for maths

"Lower grades" in what? A levels?

Initial offers will be made based on prior achievement, A2 predictions and interview performance. But the main stumbling block for most candidates is the STEP requirement, so that is where most people fail to meet their offer!

The bottom line is that Cambridge sets offers high, and if there are too few candidates meeting the requirements to fill available places, then it is entirely at the uni's discretion as to whom it admits.

Would you care to expand a bit on what's in your mind?
