I am thinking of writing about what I hope to achieve in a gap year engineering placement in my PS but I am worried that I wouldn't get a placement I would enjoy. I am actually applying for Sept 2016 and I really don't want to do a gap year but it's my only option if I don't get any offers. Should I write about it in my PS or not?

    Many thanks!

(I hope to submit my UCAS form in 3 weeks).

No don't if you are planning to apply for 2016, otherwise you're just asking for a rejection. Only write about it if you're actually going to do it, and will defer your place for 2017.
