Hi,
I have been friends with someone since primary school, but ever since we turned 18 and started going out his personality seems to have changed. He boasts a lot more, says he's going to buy drugs (but conveniently never follows through with it) and has developed a doing bizarre, out of character things for attention. Most annoying of all though, when he's drunk he likes to pretend he isn't really with the rest of our friend group and frequently tries to leave us behind. He'll make an excuse like he needs the toilet and then run over to people he vaguely knows and ignore us. Very weird, frustrating, self absorbed stuff like that.
Just wondering if anyone else's friends like doing that sort of thing, and is it just a phase?

No, I don't have such "friends". You should understand that sometimes people change and we must let them go - that will be better for both of you. If he pretends he doesn't know you, why you still call him to go with you? Be self-respectful and your friends would respect you too.
