Anyone else applied to this? Seems they've changed the application process for 2016!

Just done my video interview and waiting to hear back, although I hear you don't hear back until 2 weeks after the application deadline on 20th November.

Yeah I'm applying! Just found out I've been invited to the video interview, what did this involve for you? And how long did they give you to do it? I'm finding their deadlines rather abrupt - they say they'll be in touch in 'a few' days, then give you 3 days to complete a task (referring to the online tests here). Harder to plan for than other schemes like the Fast Stream!

5 questions, get about 30 seconds to think up an answer and then you have 60 (or 120) seconds to answer depending on the nature of the question. Not really anyway to prepare apart from the usual motivation/competency questions.

    Good luck!

Thanks pal. Good luck with your outcome, hopefully they won't take too long to get back!

How did you guys do with the tests?

I found the logical one to be very different (might even even say harder) than what I had previously seen or practised. The numerical one also caught me by surprise with the compound interest question.

Logic was tricky but my guess is that the threshold for that will be fairly low, given the sheer number of options for each sequence. I'm quite sure I messed up some of the harder latter questions in the numerical, but managed to pass them all anyhow. Best of luck.

Can't say that I wasn't surprised when I received an invitation to do the video interview. I guess the threshold for the tests was really low.

Have any of you guys done the video interview? I hope they don't make me wait for two weeks for an e-mail that says "do it in 3 days, here is the link".

Be warned, they did exactly that to me. I was away with sporadic internet and they emailed me Thursday with a deadline for Monday at midnight (by which it later turned out they actually meant Sunday at midnight). Caused a bit of unnecessary stress coming back on Sunday!

Did the tests last Saturday, got told I passed them on Monday this week and received invitation for video interview on Wednesday (deadline next Monday at midnight, but have to it by Saturday because I'll be travelling from Sunday). So all the questions were competency-based, no technical questions on what the Bank does/current issues etc? Are the questions random or related to what they say they look for on their website?

    Thanks!

Hey just done my interview too! Where did you get the info about them replying after 2 weeks past the deadline date from? I only got 'we will be in touch in due course'...

It was on their website but it looks like it has recently been revamped and is no longer on there! Did get an email on Friday saying they are reviewing the video interviews and we will be getting back to us soon - not holding out much hope though.

I have just completed the online tests. For me, they were the hardest I've come across. Fingers crossed.

What questions did they ask you for the video interview?

I understand that most people won't want to share the interview questions to others as I guess we are competing for the same role.

But can anyone shed any light on whether the video interview for the generalist (non-economist) role will contain any economics questions, or are they purely competency and why BoE?

Just seen that on the website the application deadline changed from 20/11 to 7/12 which means that it may not be until 21/12 that we hear back re video interview outcome... (they say they'll get back to us within 2 weeks of the deadline)

No economics questions, but know the UK's key economic challenges, just from reading the news, nothing specialist.
And know why you want to work for Bank and which area interests you.

On their website it states that we will hear back two weeks after the application deadline (which was 7th December) - so should hear back sometime next week I'm hoping.
