    Answer is a).
    The other angle of the triangle (the one I assume you are looking at when you say x = sin ...) is 90^o - \theta, not \theta.

    x=2\cos\theta, y=2\sin\theta

    You have them the wrong way round.

    I cannot quite follow your workings

    it is just similar triangles and proportions (your diagram is good (minus trigonometry)

    I got (a) by

    x = 1 + 3/5 * 4
    y = 1 +3/5 * 3

    too late ...

    Yeah I have got it now, I had x = sin(theta) when it should have been cos. and the y part was wrong.
