Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong topic!

So I applied to go on a sixth form trip to Africa next summer and have just been told that my application was successful and I will be going on the trip.

However, as part of the charity trip I need to raise at least £1500; £500 of this needs to be handed in by the start of January and a further £500 before March.

I had planned to do a sponsored bike ride to London (approx 100 miles), but I wouldn't be able to do this until about easter which leaves me at a loss of how I can raise so much money before January.

Has anybody got any ideas of what I could do to raise the money? It needs to be done outside of sixth form so the typical ideas like bake sales can't really be done.

Any help would be really really appreciated :-)

Good idea, but could that raise enough money? Especially now winter is coming less people are going to be wanting their car washed. Thanks

I'm raising 3,000 for Ecuador next year w/ world challenge and I've just gone past the 1,500 mark I sold cakes in school (illegal YOLO) to people and raised it that way! Coming up to christmas (right now) is perfect for gingerbread!

I've got a PT job at Lakeland to help out too, and I'm tutoring someone for German every friday for 25 an hour. Good luck!

ive done something like this, although it wasnt for the trip the rules were still the same (i had to raise £3000 in about 100 days though)

    1) bake sales in primary schools if you can, maybe the primary you used to go to is willing to help you out?
    2) selling things at school fairs, or running a stall. most schools hold their fairs november time, it may not raise a lot but its still something!
    3) its hard to organise, but how about a dinner & quiz night? some restauruants will let you book the place for ~£500-600 for the evening and offer a 3 course meal to whoever you can get to come. sell tickets for £15 and then hold a raffle too. get some family friends and its great! (i managed to get £1000 profit this way)
4)get a job. its a slow but sure way to raise a lot of money.
5)team up with a couple of friends who are doing it, and try to hold a massive event. it could be anything, as simple as a movie night or a quiz night. especially with friends, it is a good way to raise the money
6)hold mini tournaments. I held a fifa tournament, the prize was fifa15 (on the ps4). the buy in was £5, and it was great. if you can get 30-40 people to join in you can easily get a lot of money!
