Which seems wrong to me. Can someone else comfirm who is right?

Not possible the Cr3+ ion forms coloured complexes so cannot have a 4s orbital intact as that would the restrict the 3d oribital splitting and thus the electrons in the 3d oribital will not absorb light (3d oribtal absorbs it from visible spectrum) so a colour will not be generated as they return to original energy levels after being excited.

Cut a long story short, Cr3+ doesn't have a 4s orbital, Cr does.
