Trying to become teetotal

I have been for a while now. Drinking non-alcholic beer home and in pubs. A couple of pints is all I needed last time I hadn't drunk for ages to get me going and elated, so it lowers one's tolerance.
Not easy to stop when drinking is so intrinsic in UK culture, and many people are relaxed about big drinking, but I've done that and have the feelig it's bad for my mental faculties.

Anyone else tried or considered trying?

I have a couple of friends who went teetotal for a few months to see if they could and to save their money but they both reverted back to drinnking now

I've never touched a drop so I dont have a problem with it

I gave up drinking when I found out I was pregnant and its very hard- especially in the student environment. Although I was quite a big drinker before so it made it all the more tough.

Although its hard for me, having an actual reason not to drink made it so much easier, I mean I don't know if my friends would be happy if I was sober ALL the time at every night out(I wouldnt either!) its just the environment I live in and although it is really alot healthier not to drink, sitting in a pub with friends staying tee-total is just not the same.

I couldn't really go to a club and not drink. But then if I gave up drinking I wouldn't go to a club. So I could do it when I get older and stop going clubbing.

I thnk it's easier to do probably in some other European nations, where they drink lightly with meals but don't binge drink.

I used to go out 3 or 4 times a week when i was 17/18 and get drunk every night. I'm not strictly teetotal now, i have like....a pint a week maybe. I guess i've just grown up.

Maybe, but when Brits go over to these other countries its so much cheaper than over here so that encourages it even more!

Although I get what you mean if you were like brought up over there, I don't think it would be that big of a deal. although saying that if you were an alcoholic and everyones drinking alcohol with their meals that would be hard!
