    Multiply both sides by y+1... expand the brackets on the LHS... get all the y's on one side and everything else on the other... factor out the y's... then divide the rest by what's left leaving you with y= ...

    this is a standard rearrangement of a formula which is covered in GCSE...
    (first step multiply both sides by ...)
