I live in a 16 bedroom house with 15 other people. We all get along well however there are some issues that members of the house are getting annoyed about. Mainly the same few having to do all the day to day chores like cleaning communal areas, washing up, bins etc, and others creating mess and not doing their bit.
We had a house meeting at the start of term to set down some ground rules with the idea that every couple of months we all sit in one room and chat about house stuff and any issues we may have, however a few people think its pointless and "cringey" to have meetings and therefore don't attend - funnily enough they are the ones that usually leave mess laying around.
Are meetings like this over the top and unnecessary or perfectly reasonable.

In a house that size they are necessary. Next time suggest drawing up a rota of cleaning or something and give the people who don't show up the awful jobs. (This is what my flat does, that being said there's four of us!)
