I have some questions about the challenge, firstly if anyone can give me any tips on how to create lots of income on my portfolio then please consider helping me! We aren't doing that well (2000th) so any tips would be much appreciated!

I'm not sure on how to gain portfolio value or what to look for in companies (or change ,penny) so a detailed explanation would be extremely helpful.

I am very interested in the finance industry and this competition could teach me quite a lot! Any great tips and tricks or what to look for would be so helpful, thank you!

Hi, I'm doing it this year and did it last year. Im Currently in the top 40 for the combined league. The website that you use for the competition has loads of good information to get you started, but trading isn't set in stone. you can approach it many different ways. Personally I invested all of the money from day one in reputable companies that I knew weren't that volatile. As this isn't going to make you too much money I check the LSE financial diary (http://www.lse.co.uk/financial-diary.asp) to see when companies will be announcing there profit/loss. From this I go onto buy company stocks that are anticipated to announce high profits. One of our most successful trades was with PizzaHut, If I recall correctly it jumped close to 10% in one day.

In terms of teaching you a lot about the finance sector, It only really scratches the surface. There is a lot more to finance than just buying and selling stocks.
