Why do they not pronounce the cities the way they are spelt? I am from Northern Ireland and I do personally do not pronounce any of these cities the English way (It doesn't really make sense), For example, Birmingham becomes Birmingum or Fulham becomes Fulhum?

    Also Norwich becomes Noritch.

It's the English language and the various regional dialects we have.

also warwick and edinburgh confuses me the most :/ but i think the birmingham thing is just accent. and fulham makes sense as fulhum if you think about how A has multiple sounds

Yeah, I go to university in Norwich and I just can't say it the way they say it. It doesn't make sense to say it that way, it's not spelt "Noritch".

These particularly obscure English settlements: Cholmondeley, Woolfardisworthy, Happisburgh, Godmanchester, will ruffle the locals if you pronounce them wrong

I always pronounce Norwich as Norwich. Maybe you are just hanging around with people with strong accents?
