What should the balance be between reading books and listening to good lyrics, and writing your own lyrics, if you want to write good lyrics?

Does it vary depending on how experienced you are at reading and writing lyrics/books?

    What should I be reading?

If you listen to lyrics, you're getting the phrasing too and the melodies, so that may be more useful, provided you get enough variety. I guess life experience is good for all kinds of writing too.
