Has anyone done private tutoring? looking for a way to boost my salary a bit

I have teaching experience but no qualifications (currently teach remedial maths at ks3). I'd probably be happiest with tutoring in maths (I have an A level).

Is this realistic? what could I charge? how do you get into tutoring?

most tutors get round through word of mouth. I know a tutor who charges around £35 an hour for each student. It would help if you had leaflets and business cards to hand out to people. Most tutors i know seem to be balling

Thanks, see I work in a school but don't know whether they'd feel it was appropriate for me to tutor students at school, at the very least I'd imagine promoting my services wouldn't be appreciated! Away from work I don't know anyone aside from a couple of students in my town, so I would struggle to promote through word of mouth (until the point at which I had a couple of students going)
