It should not be public - perhaps only the selection committee should see it.

If you want a job in banking or national security or working with children or vulnerable adults, then you have to have a DBS Check done. The DBS produces a certificate stating your unspent criminal convictions and sometimes some other stuff, and the employer can then decide whether you are a good risk or not.

Politicians direct the economy, the MOD, education, social services and the NHS. Why should they be exempt? We employ them, so let's see their DBS check certificate.

My proposal: everyone who stands as an MP or an MEP or similar elected role should have to get a DBS check and publish the certificate online. If they don't want people to know they have a conviction for fraud or kiddy-fiddling, then they should not stand for election and the chance to be in charge of the country.

    Do you agree?
