Yesterday I went to a recruitment event at an Argos Store in Manchester for temporary christmas staff. 22 candidates were invited but only 9 of these turned up. We were told we were competing for around 5 or 6 jobs.
We were initially put into 3 groups of 3 and had to work in these small groups to create posters, before presenting them to the recruiting managers.

The first team that presented their poster generally did it fairly and as a whole group, explaining one or two points each, in rotation. However, in my group, there was one person that tried to do the whole presentation herself, not letting the other members of the group get a word in. When she was perhaps 75%ish of the way through explaining the points on the poster, I ended up quite obviously cutting her off "mid flow", so I could at least explain a couple of the last few points. Do you think this will be seen as rude or assertive by the recruiting managers? Honestly I do think it looked a bit rude, especially as she was actually presenting well up to the point I cut her off. However, each group had a supervisor and our group supervisor told us to make sure we all say something during the presentation.

The second task (another poster) was also quite frustrating as I did all of the writing and drawing for the poster, and came up with most of the ideas, but when it came to the actual presentation couldn't get a word in, as one guy took over.

What do you think are my honest chances of getting offered one of these jobs?

    Thanks
It really depends to be honest... If the recruiters can see that a single person is stealing everyone elses' spot, then they will not consider how articulate that person is. Maybe it will be down to the presentation material itself i.e. the posters, and which members played a better role in the group. That's all I can infer really. Good Luck though.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think the presentation material itself will be taken into account ,as it was pretty light hearted stuff. The first task was to create a poster for a last minute guest coming to stay over for christmas (by cutting out images from the catalogue), and the second task was to draw and annotate a poster showing the superhero qualities of the ultimate argos worker. I cut out around half of the images for the first poster, and came up with most of the ideas for the second one, so hopefully I'll have a chance, however i'm not sure how closely they were paying attention to the group work. I think they were more interested in scoring the actual presentations, which doesn't seem fair to me. Tbh it's not looking that good as the recruiting manager said he would contact the sucessful candidates today, ahh well.
Hmmm, I get your point. Well this will be a test to show how fair and just Argos really is, from personal experience I don't respect them that much. As they have rejected my application for Christmas work, without even giving a valid reason.

All I can say is that they should take more to account that just verbal presentations, as that doesn't really say much about a person's worth.

    Good Luck once again.
