I got BBBD in AS Biology, Chemistry and Maths. The D was in Physics and it counts as an "extenuating circumstance" because we had a poor teacher who left towards the end of the year and we barely covered the course and my D is relatively ok compared to the other grades achieved. The school has a "policy" to study 4 A2 subjects but lots of people have dropped it completely or just swapped a subject for a different AS. i tried to switch to AS Economics but was refused and i accept it is now too late (i tried to change in September). I have to retake most of my AS modules since i need AAA or AAB for my uni course. I will not retake any AS physics modules or bother with it at A2. What can I do to try and drop it?

P.S. I considered bunking but it is a good school and i dont want to risk getting kicked out.

I think I might have to aha. But i feel as if a parent going to them won't make a difference. The headteacher is so adamant that I remain in Physics yet so many people have dropped subjects i genuinely think it could be discrimination because I have an issue with being late and he seems to hate me for that

damn your teachers suck.... i think you'll need to keep pestering them to let you drop it, otherwise it will affect your performance in your other subjects. Does physics have any relevance to the course you want to do? your school is being very unfair tbh, they need to understand more.....its not fair that they're letting other people drop and swap and forcing you to continue physics

That's what I'm gonna try but I want to drop it ASAP so I can revise in the free periods I would have. We've started our coursework and it is a long essay and I just cba doing it and don't think I will. They have compulsory resit sessions at lunchtime and I haven't gone and they've started telling my tutor etc.

I want to study Pharmacology and you need Chemistry plus one science/maths subject. I already do Maths, Bio and Chem so Physics is pointless. However, if I get AAA I may consider taking a gap year and applying for Medicine. Therefore, if I am able to drop Physics I might retake a module so that I get a c at AS and will be eligible for most Medicine courses

Try going to your head of year and saying that you're struggling to cope with 4 A2 subjects. There were people in my year who chose to take 4 but are dropping out even now because it's too much. If it doesn't work you could always get your parents to back you up and write a letter saying the same?
