Can anyone help me in describing a desolate New York City please???

How do you mean? As in post - apocalyptic, abandoned? The best way to write any descriptive piece of writing is to come up with images, then start developing descriptions based on the initial ideas that you have - make sure to use a variety of words and imagery. Think of ways to describe the scene that cover all 5 senses - touch, taste, smell, sound, sight. Use lots of adjectives to make each thing you describe really detailed and also try to get in some metaphors, similes and other language features

There it stood desolate, devastated and damaged. Once a place filled with joy, now a city where the sky scrapers sullenly stare down at the city, piercing into it's soul. Everyone escaped.

Just an idea, good luck in writing it.
